Hello all and goodbye June! It took me a few extra days to get get post out - apologies for that - June was just a very hectic month and on July 1st our garage door broke, distracting me further. I’ve found I really can’t concentrate on days where someone is working in the house or I have a pending appointment, I wish I could but, alas!
Thoughts on June
The dental issue I alluded to last month became a full problem this month with four separate dentist appointments on top of everything else. It’s still wonky but I think I’m okay now? It’s hard to know when you have inflammation issues. On the good side, my husband’s surgery went well and he is recovering smoothly. I think we may have gotten this month’s packages out faster just because unfinished tasks make my feel anxious whereas he’s a big procrastinator. I hope I packed everything okay for you all!
On the art front, in June I made my first Glue Baby trading card for my Patrons. I was trying to think of something fun to do with my photos and the first type of art I ever made was college so I thought to combine them. I made this digital college (all the assets that aren’t my photo are licensed), and really liked it, so I pitched it as a trading card and my Patrons said yes. I will do doing a monthly card for a bit and think they’re so fun. In High School I actually made a set of collaged trading cards of some of my friends using yearbook photos, so the whole idea got me feeling very nostalgic.
In June I also got to show my collaboration with my now-friend, Yutoos. We made ten one of a kind, handmade pieces for a miniature show at Strangecat Toys (cough, an 11th might be out in July, cough), and it was a great experience all around. I want to made a dedicated post just for this collaboration since I put so much time and love into these little guys. The idea of Yutoos’ little Starmites living happily in Glue Baby land just makes me happy.
June Lovely Things
Here are some lovely things from June that I hope will give you a smile …
I don’t use fidgets at all, but I want one of these clicky cakes so bad.
Speaking of, this pixel key stamp set is so darn cute.
Stunning chameleon beaded bag. I am always blown way by bead work.
Back in the day, this artist’s grandma made a hinged diorama from a real egg! I love that when people connect women and crafts because of our grandparents were a big leisure craft generation, they have no clue that this is what our grans were up to.
Like this cartoon, no idea why people think arts and crafts aren’t pals (except it’s misogyny, obviously).
Speaking of crafts, I need to make room in my schedule to make one (or ten) of these beaded wall hangings.
I am in an agony of longing over these vintage cups. I do collect Lefton vintage pieces and now I want to get back to it. I’ve been influenced!
When I tell people that my art gets a lot of its inspiration from decora and decoden almost no one ever knows what I’m talking about, so here’s an amazing slideshow of decora fashion!
July 2025 Lock Screen and Wallpaper
This month I wanted a bright, happy color scheme and went with another Glue Baby cloud. Kind of a nod to how pretty fireworks are without all the loud sounds. These are also posted to my IG where I have a monthly Story highlight that I regularly update (it will be available all month), and Patreon where paid subscribers get a bonus wallpaper set each month.
Thank you for reading the June 2025 recap and I will see you again soon!
