Hello all and happy January! I wanted to start by saying hello and welcome to all of the new Glue Baby Gazette subscribers. I truly appreciate you being here and I’m so excited that IG finally showed you all a Story where I talked about my Substack. This is one of the places on social media where I exist because I enjoy it and it’s genuinely fun for me, so welcome. (I’ve grown to really like making videos, too, I would just post fewer and at random hours if it were up to me.)
Below are some of the Tiny Terra from Series 21 and the inspiration behind those pieces, I hope you enjoy!
The very first Tiny Terra I made for Series 21 was this black butterfly piece. It has two moonstone tumbles (one on each side) from my personal collection, and I love how they look here. A lot of people ask why I don’t use dark colors often, but the simple fact is that they don’t sell as quickly. So I will pepper them into collections here and there, but they will probably stay scarce.
The next pieces I made were these pastel, Rococo garden pieces. I got some lovely new supplies and used most of them up on Series 21. I love the jelly colored flowers and wanted them to be piled on, giving a feeling of an overgrown, alien landscape. There is a little skull in there (bottom right) for a memento mori touch as well.
I also made a pair of these overgrown garden pieces in pink and green, one of my favorite color combinations. The green obsidian piece here is so beautiful, I was happy for the chance to use it. I’m still getting all my crystals from either my personal collection or a local crystal store I’ve gone to for years and I really love that. I think it makes them a little more special, in a way.
I struggled with insomnia a bit this month. It happens from time to time, mostly because I have to get fully out of bed to reapply eye ointment all night, so there’s plenty of opportunities to not fall back asleep. It made me want to revisit my older Sleepy Pill series, which was one of my first running series. This piece is one of my favorites this month; it looks like a goblet filled with bubbling sky and sweet dreams.
I will admit right now that I am obsessed with the lotus pond series. I think, however, that they will be paused for a little while since I’ve made so many (I still need to make one for myself though). With long-running series I like to give them a little breathing room so the designs stay fresh. However, I do have plans for a huge one next month that’s a new experiment. I hope it works out; I have no idea if it will, but I love to see what happens.
Like last year, I wanted to make a few goldfish pieces for Lunar New Year. Goldfish are a symbol of Lunar New Year representing wealth and abundance, with a black goldfish representing the absorption of negative energy in feng shui; definitely the energy I want to start 2025 with! I also made one of these pieces for myself, just like last year, so my goldfish are hanging out together in my display case.
Finally, the last piece I made in TTS21 was this undersea jelly garden. I love it so much. If I could have kept it, I would have, but Series 21 didn’t have many pieces and it couldn’t be spared. I’m sure it found a wonderful home though. There’s something about the periwinkle and pastel blue with the bubblegum pink that I can’t get enough of.
Thank you all for reading this closer look at Tiny Terra Series 21! I will see you again at the end of the month for my reflection and recommendations.
Thank you! I got a break from politics with these pretty things!!!
